Jessica and Kate came to Sit Happens RVA with their toy Dachshund mix that they rescued from Richmond Animal League. Pretzel is a small dog with a big personality. He needed some structure to help his new owners learn to live with their new family member. Pretzel had issues with jumping and barking. He also had a tendency to follow Jessica and Kate around their home. Pretzel also had issues with new people in and outside of their home. He was very anxious (and noisy) when he met new people. Jessica and Kate wanted Pretzel to be able to join them at the art studio while they work. They also wanted him to feel more at ease around new people.
Jessica and Kate started Pretzel with Sit Happens RVA’s 4 private lessons. He learned how to properly greet people. Jessica and Kate have healthy boundaries for Pretzel, so he doesn’t feel the need to follow them around the house, or to bark at all the noises he hears outside. Pretzel also has more confidence when meeting new people. He is working on his manners in the art studio, but is making progress towards being a regular there while Jessica and Kate work.
